First Annual Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Educational Conference

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Commission Chairman Troy Wilson, Sr., announced today that the Commission will host the First Annual Oklahoma Workers' Compensation Educational Conference in Oklahoma City on September 22-23, 2014, with Gov. Mary Fallin to welcome and open the conference on Monday, September 22nd. The conference will be held in cooperation with the International Workers' Compensation Foundation. Sessions will take place at the Tower Hotel, 3233 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.

The goal of the conference is to present information and updates to system practitioners and create an opportunity for dialogue on current and upcoming issues.  Employers, worker representatives, medical providers and their office staff, insurance claims professionals, self-insurers, third party administrators, safety and human resource managers, claimant's and defense attorneys, and vocational rehabilitation providers are encouraged to attend.  In fact, anyone interested in the workers' compensation system in Oklahoma will receive valuable information at the conference. The conference will also feature an Exhibit Hall, and presentations and workshops from experts within the Workers' Compensation Commission and the private sector.

“The conference will educate those who participate in the Oklahoma Workers' Compensation system regarding the new law, rules, procedures, policies and forms. It will provide an opportunity for dialogue among these participants. In short, this will help the Oklahoma Workers' Compensation system operate effectively and efficiently to better serve workers and employers,” Chairman Wilson said.

Conference participants may be eligible for continuing education credits. Application will be made for Oklahoma CLE credit for attorneys and CRC, CDMS and CCM credit for rehabilitation providers. A certificate of attendance will be available for other professional disciplines.

To be included on the conference distribution list when registration opens, including information on available exhibit and sponsorship opportunities, contact the International Workers' Compensation Foundation at iwcf@bellsouth.net.
